Parent-Teacher Conference

Last April 25, Jay and I had our 2nd Parent-Teacher Conference.
Emma's teacher said that Emma is doing great.
She knows her letters, the sounds they make, and can even
name things that starts with each letter.
She even can sort of write her name now.
She knows her numbers too.

Outside Playtime: Emma run and shrieks like a banshee.
As soon as she steps inside the building, quiet as a mouse.
Not a bad thing right?
She definitely knows when and where to use her indoor and outdoor voice.

Here's the problem.
She's been around her teacher and classmates
3x a week, 3 1/2 hours a day, for the last 7 months,
and she still barely talks to her teacher!
Her teacher has to ask her to repeat what she's saying
because she whispers or mumbles them.

Emma may look a lot like me, but she is the opposite of me.
At least when it comes to her current behavior.
Ever since I started Kindergarten, my teachers biggest
complain was that I TALK TOO MUCH.
"Abigail's doing well in class Mrs. Samson, but she's very talkative."
Talk about getting an earful from my Mom when we got home.

I know she's only 3 (going 4) and that she'll probably snap out of it.
Unfortunately, her timidity is just not with her teacher,
it's with other people that's not me, Jay, or her Grandma.
Actually the whole timidity works great around strangers.
Not so great around family and friends though.

Jay and I would like to think that she's just really
like to do things her way, in her own terms, and in her own pace.
So for now, we just have to wait what the next school year will bring.
