Last Saturday night, Jay and I took Emma to watch her first play.
The Lexington Children's Theatre adapted the Hans Christian Andersen version of "The Little Mermaid." There were only 2 characters in the show that lasted about 40 minutes. Flotsam and Jetsam narrated the sad tale of the Little Mermaid.
There were some laugh out loud moments particularly during the first 20 minutes of the show. Jay and I kept on glancing at Emma to check her reaction.
Emma was very attentive and laughed at the right moments.
What we noticed though was that she was stifling her laughter!
When we got in the car our conversation went like this...
Me: What do you think of the play?
E: G-O-O-D.
Me: Why were you trying to hide when you were laughing?
E: Coz the guy (the one who introduced the show and told the audience the house rules) said we cannot talk during the play.
Me: Well yes, you can't talk but you can laugh out loud when something is funny.
silence
E: Mom, did he forgot to tell us we can do that?
