The first two happened while we were visiting my Mom.
I.
Mom: "Emma pulutin mo mga laruan mo."
Translation: "Emma pick-up your toys."
Emma: (tugging my pants) "What she saying Mommy?"
II.
Emma: "I want soup crackers Mommy."
Me: "No soup crackers."
Emma: "I want chips."
Me: "No chips either."
Emma: (looking exasperated) "What house is this?"
III.
This one took place this morning as I was driving Emma home from school.
Emma: "Where's Daddy?"
Me: "Daddy's at work."
Emma: "What's Daddy working for?"
It took me awhile to understand this question, but this goes back to
what her grandma told her about why I work.
Me: "Daddy is working to have money."
Emma: "For me?"
Me: "Yes, because you like to go to Target."
Emma: "Can I go to Target with my Daddy?"
Me: "Ask your Daddy later."
Emma: "I want to go to Target with my Daddy."
Me: "You taking me with you?"
Emma: "Yes. Me, Daddy, and you - Mommy will go to Target."
Me: "How about Grandma?"
After a few seconds of silence.
Emma: "Grandma can go with us to Target, but she likes Wal-Mart."
- THE END -
