Well this is it...almost.
Two more nights and we are outta here!
In NYC that is.
I know that I said on my earlier post that I
will be writing about what I won't miss about living
in New York, but I'm just too exhausted to really
get into the mood.
The days following Christmas was just incredibly hectic.
Our plans for the holidays and the succeeding
days all went out of the window.
Originally we planned to spend December 23-26 with
my Mom in MD, then Jay and I were to return to NYC sans Emma.
We did spend Christmas with her,
but the 5 "sans Emma days - pffffft.
Unfortunately, my Mom had the flu so leaving a boisterous
toddler was out of the question. We also ended up staying
1 more night in MD, thus reducing our packing time.
So we return to NYC with "the unpacker" (a.k.a Emma).
Spent the 12/27 to 1/1/07 packing, chasing Emma, screaming "Emma, NO!"
"Emma stop that!" "Emma put that back!"
Watching "Doodlebops" over and over and over and over....
If you think that's not stressful enough,
add this one to the list:
12/31 - I found out through my Mom that her sister (my Aunt C)
was in the hospital. Brain aneurysm.
Aunt C was lucky enough that she did not need a craniotomy.
They did a less invasive procedure called "coiling" instead.
She's still a little befuddled right now, but over all doing well.
Her short-term memory difficulty, from what I've been told
are quite normal and reversible.
Back to our crrrazzzy schedule:
Jan. 5 @ 8:30 AM -Jay will pick-up the truck.
- finish up with the packing
- patch walls (huge job for Jay - if you've been to our apartment
you understand why)
- "spot" painting
- loading the truck
- cleaning
- laundry
The light at the end of the tunnel (no it's not Jersey) -
we'll get the much needed assistance - YAY!
Work wise - today (1/4) was my last day.
Since I really just went back to work 1/3
(we were close for winter break)
I just have two days to - clean out my desk, my computer, see people,
run errands, tie up loose ends, and do transition.
In other words, yesterday and today I was multi-tasking
and cramming like crazy. I finally understood how Jay
was feeling that night he said that he needed Valium.
I came very close to asking my co worker if any of them have
one or something similar.
On 1/7 - we start the looooong drive.
That's 11 hours and 47 minutes - not including
pit stops and chow time. I reckon more pit stops
since Emma can now say "wet!" change!"
Then it's "Helloooo Kentucky!"
Stay tuned...
