Five Questions - Favorite Book(s)

Kudos to Tyrone for being the first one to answer last Friday's F5 questions.
Shame on US (I'm including Nikki, and Maita) for being such major slackers!!!

1. What book or books were special to you in your childhood?
See Tagpi Run
Jingle Songhits
Wakasan Comics
Okay...seriously...what will come close to "special" are probably the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen.

2. What was particularly special or memorable about those books?
The adventure and misadventures, timeless and unforgettable characters, and of course, the moral lessons.

3. Have you re-read any of them as an adult?
Yes, particularly the Grimm Brothers. The children's version of the fairy tales were - for the lack of a better word - "Disneyfied." Was shocked to read that Cinderella's step-sisters' eyes got pecked by pigeons at the end of the story.
I am also now trying to read the same stories, but the Disney version to Emma.

4. If so, were the books as good as you remembered them?
No, not all of them. See my answer to question #3.

5. What do you think about movies being made out of children's classics (like the Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of The Rings, etc.)?
Nothing wrong with making movies out of children's classics, as long as they were done right. I agree with my friend Tyrone that reading is still the best!
